When to use single-mode

Single-mode fibre is designed for long distances with very low loss. Duplex vs BiDi

This is a duplex module that uses two fibres, one in each direction. Use the same model at both ends of the link, with an LC-LC single-mode duplex patch cord at each end. If you only have a single fibre available, choose a BiDi (WDM) pair such as the TP-Link SM321B instead.
